I’m sitting on a plane. I have 29 minutes of battery left on my laptop. 46 minutes of wifi. Probably $300 to my name. I got 6 hours sleep last night and will probably get none tonight. I have to be back at work tomorrow and spend the whole day catching up to a huge backlog. I did nothing to help my Melee team achieve silver and got my ass handed to me in singles, by two amazing fighters.

I couldn’t be happier.

This trip was perhaps the best time I’ve ever had in my life. The brothers I’ve made on my team, especially my knights hall boys and girls, are like family to me now. I got fights that I will never forget. Who else gets to fight in hail on castle grounds on a jumbotron and lit by stadium lights. This trip was surreal. I will always treasure it as a special moment in my life. My first campaign. I stressed so much leading up to it and the payoff was more than worth it. The training, the work, the money, all the blood and sweat poured out trying to make myself ready.

But now the seasons over. Time to change focus. SCA Melee season is beginning. The ACL chapter season will start soon. I need to find a new job and my home gaming group is looking me to put on a stellar D&D game. My attention is going to be split in a hundred ways for the next few months. Not time to rest. No time to relax. Always moving onto the next thing.

Remember,

Deeds, not words.
